The Role
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Urology Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) to join the team at Epworth Eastern in a part time position, currently 2 days per week for a fixed term maternity leave role. This is a job share position the Urology CNC service is available 3 days per week.
The Urology CNC provides an advanced nursing model of care facilitating optimal patient outcomes.
Working alongside the Nursing Unit Manager’s and doctors, you will provide a consultancy service to staff, patients and carers of patients under the care of the urology team.
You will act as the key liaison for the patient and family as well as provide counselling, education and support, and coordinates BCG treatment and administration.
You will have in depth knowledge of contemporary urological practices and products as well as provide leadership and clinical expertise through education, guiding and advising members of the nursing team. You will also facilitate urology nursing education workshops and provide educational support to the hospital.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Current nursing registration with AHPRA
- Extensive experience in providing expert clinical care to urology patients
- Experience in safe administration of intravesical treatment
- Proven ability to implement change in clinical practice by the utilisation of evidence based research
- Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to educate and mentor others
- The ability to impact knowledge in a professional and resourceful manner
- Post graduate qualifications in urology and continence nursing or working towards (desirable)

Epworth Eastern
Located in Box Hill, Epworth Eastern is a state-of-the-art private hospital which features an eight bed ICU, 10 bed HDU/CCU and 10 operating theatres.
Epworth Eastern maintains a broad clinical focus from cardiac, vascular, orthopaedic and general surgery to oncology, urology, endoscopy services as well as a brand new renal dialysis and day medical unit. From consultation and detection through to surgery, Epworth Eastern aims to work with patients and their families to ensure they have the best experience possible.
Epworth Eastern has commenced its expansion and redevelopment, which will see the construction of the 14 storey East Wing Tower, delivering additional beds, theatres, consulting rooms and an Australian-first Traditional Chinese Medicine offering. The expansion will also see a brand new private emergency department for Melbourne’s east.
Epworth Eastern’s expansion includes the opening of two new sites: Epworth Eastern Ekera and Epworth Eastern Kew. Epworth Eastern Ekera offers opportunities within its purpose-built day procedure unit, focusing on IVF and other minor procedures. Epworth Eastern Kew features three theatres, a procedural room; as well as day surgery, overnight beds and consulting suites. Epworth Eastern Kew will operate until the completion of the hospital’s East Wing Tower in 2021.
