The Program

Joining our 2023 Graduate Midwifery Program, working part-time across 4 days per week, you will be welcomed into an environment that cares. You will have access to a designated onsite Midwifery Educator who will be available to answer your questions and provide you with support and guidance with your transition from Student Nurse / Midwife to Graduate Nurse / Midwife with Epworth HealthCare.

The program offers you the flexibility to complete rotations across post-natal, birth suite and SCN. It is the perfect opportunity for you to start and grow your midwifery career and work with Victoria’s leading private healthcare group. You will develop a sense of belonging and begin your transition into becoming a confident and competent Registered Nurse / Midwife. 

The locations and programs

Epworth Freemasons

Located in East Melbourne, close to public transport and the CBD, Epworth Freemasons provides a range of world-class health services across two campuses.  Epworth Freemasons main campus on Albert Street specialises in women’s and men’s health services including breast and gynaecological surgery, endoscopy, urology, oncology, and a full range of surgical services, including robotic assisted surgery, orthopaedics and ICU care. 

At Epworth Freemasons campus on Victoria Parade is where our Maternity Unit is located which offers a dynamic space for expectant mothers and their families to have their baby with all the maternity specialities available.

Epworth Freemasons offers two Graduate Support Programs for Midwives:

Registered Midwife Graduate Support Program

  • 12-month program individually tailored within a clinical learning framework
  • Specific Midwifery orientation program to help you settle into the maternity unit
  • Clinical rotations across all maternity specialities: Post Natal, Birth Suite, and Special Care Nursery 
  • Starting in February 2023

Registered Midwife / Nurse Graduate Support Program

  • 18-month structured program with a 6-month acute nursing rotation
  • Specific combined Nurse / Midwifery orientation program to help you settle 
  • Clinical rotations across Acute Medical / Surgical wards, Post Natal, Birth Suite and Special Care Nursery
  • Starting in February 2023

Epworth Geelong

Located in Waurn Ponds, adjacent to Deakin University. Epworth Geelong provides a wide range of world-class health services with 11 operating theatres, ICU department, 24/7 emergency department and a specialised maternity unit combined with gynaecological women’s health services. 

At Epworth Geelong our maternity department has been newly developed and offers a dynamic space for our expectant mothers and their families to have their baby with all the maternity specialities available.

Registered Midwife / Nurse Graduate Program or Registered Midwife Graduate Program

  • 12-month program individually tailored within a clinical learning framework
  • Specific combined Nurse / Midwifery orientation program to help you settle 
  • Clinical rotations across Gynaecology, Post Natal, Birth Suite, and Special Care Nursery
  • Starting in February and July 2023

What you need

To be eligible for our graduate program, you will need:

  • Anticipate being granted AHPRA registration prior to program commencement date
  • Be on-track to successfully complete your 2022 Nursing / Midwifery degree or 2022 Midwifery degree
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency; New Zealand Citizenship OR anticipate having a working visa with rights to work in Australia on a part-time contract
