The role

Epworth HealthCare is currently seeking members of the community to join our Consumer Advisory Committee. As a Consumer Advisor Committee member, you will provide a voice for the community and consumers in strategic decision making and governance at Epworth HealthCare. The committee meets six times a year and acts in an advisory capacity which reports to Epworth’s Patient Care Committee, a sub-committee of Epworth HealthCare Board.

 

You will make an impact by:

  • Supporting and advising Epworth HealthCare on consumer, carer and community views to assist in the planning, delivery, and improvement of our services
  • Providing consumer, carer and community perspectives by reflecting on current and broader system issues
  • Positively interacting with employees and consumers and discussing issues pertaining to the consumer perspective
  • Supporting our Partnering with Consumer Strategy and assisting with strategies to grow the influence of consumers through partnership activities

To be successful in this role:

 You will have:

  • The ability to provide patient, family or carer and community perspectives, rather than focusing on personal concerns or individual issues
  • The ability to reflect upon and draw on lived experience of our service, either as a patient, family member or carer (highly valued, but not essential)
  • Connections to community and / or consumer groups (desirable)
  • Passion and commitment to creating safer systems and improving the quality of healthcare
  • Strategic thinking and effective problem solving skills
  • Ability to contribute to Epworth’s governance, broad strategic planning and operational planning processes
  • Well developed communication skills
  • Confidence to interact positively with health professionals

Consumer Advisors who are already on the Epworth Consumer Advisor register are welcome to apply. Applicants who are not already on the register will need to join the Consumer Advisor register if they are successful.
