Position Summary
  • 12-month program in Scrub Scout or Anaesthetics / PACU or both
  • 18-month program with 6 months day surgery + 12-month peri-operative program (Richmond only)
  • Part-time or full-time contract
  • Individually tailored programs to meet your education needs
  • 4 locations to choose from – Eastern, Freemasons (East Melbourne), Geelong and Richmond

The Program 

Joining our 2023 Speciality Perioperative Graduate Program, you will be welcomed into an environment that cares for its people. Having the opportunity to spend a full 12-months in the theatre environment, you will cement your learnings, develop a sense of belonging and begin your transition to become a confident and competent Perioperative Registered Nurse.

A multi-tiered approach to your support sees you have access to speciality Educators, Preceptors and Clinical Specialists who will be available to answer your questions and guide your clinical practice.

The Locations

The Speciality Perioperative Nurse Graduate Support Program is offered at four (4) hospital locations (let us know in the application process which location or locations you are applying to)

Epworth Richmond

  • Located on Bridge Road, Richmond, close to the CBD
  • 28 operating theatres plus an endoscopy suite and cardiac catheter laboratory
  • Be exposed to various surgeries including orthopaedic, general/colorectal, cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, endoscopy, ENT, ophthalmology, oral maxillofacial, plastics, urology & vascular procedures
  • Access to experience robotic surgeries using Da Vinci and MAKO robots
  • Full time roster across 4 days/week

Epworth Geelong

  • Located in Waurn Ponds, adjacent to Deakin University
  • 11 operating theatres plus endoscopy suite
  • Exposure to various surgeries including neurosurgical, orthopaedic, general/colorectal, ENT, ophthalmology, oral maxillofacial, plastics, urology & vascular procedures
  • Opportunity to develop experience in robotic surgeries using the Da Vinci robot
  • Part time roster across 3 days/week

Epworth Freemasons

  • Located in East Melbourne, across two campuses – Albert Street and Victoria Parade
  • Close the CBD and public transport
  • 17 operating theatres plus endoscopy suite across the two campuses
  • Exposure to various surgeries including paediatrics, general surgical, gynaecology, urology, ENT, maxillofacial, orthopaedics, endoscopy, plastics, robotic surgeries using Da Vinci robots and emergency caesarians
  • Part-time roster across 3 days/week

Epworth Eastern

  • Located in Box Hill, close to public transport
  • 12 operating theatres plus endoscopy suite and hybrid cardiac theatre
  • Be exposed to various surgeries including orthopaedics, endoscopy, plastics, cardiac, urology, thoracics, neurosurgery and gynaecology
  • Opportunity to develop experience in robotic surgeries using the Da Vinci robot
  • Part-time roster across 3 days/week


What you need

To be eligible for our graduate program, you will need:

  • Be on-track to successfully complete your 2022 nursing degree (Bachelors or Masters)
  • Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency; New Zealand Citizenship OR anticipate having a working visa with unrestricted rights to work in Australia on a part-time contract
  • Please note Epworth HealthCare is NOT part of the PMCV match process. If you are successful with an offer in the Graduate Support Program, you will be expected to withdraw from PMCV match process and provide evidence
