The Role
Epworth Richmond Health Information Services (HIS) is seeking a professional, enthusiastic and motivated team player to fill the position of Medical Record Access Officer.
This full-time position will be responsible for all medical record access requests that are received across Epworth HealthCare with similar skillset to a Freedom of Information Officer (FOI) role.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Ensuring medical record access requests are provided to applicants within 45 days of receipt
- Ensuring the applicant is aware of the medical record access options available to them including viewing with clinical explanation
- Invoicing applicants of applicable fees
- Updating the RiskMan Medicolegal database as required
- Forwarding requests for medical reports to appropriate doctors
- Ensuring all clinical trial requests are actioned
- Handling telephone queries from staff, patients and legal advisers in relation to health information access
- Interpreting incident reports and relevance to the access requested
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Well-developed organisational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- High attention to detail
- Appropriate knowledge of medical terminology
Knowledge of the Privacy Act / Health Records Act 2001 and previous experience within a Health Service would be advantageous.
